Alex Hochstrasser is a professional photographer, retoucher and an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop. He is currently attending his third year at Fitchburg State University studying Photography and Professional Communication.
“Since about 2009 I’ve had this obsession with photography. I bought a camera for a summer program and started taking pictures almost every day. After the program was over I found myself still wanting to photograph and continued to pursue that interest.
The following year I bought my first DSLR and my photography really took off. I loved finally being able to control my camera with all the concepts and techniques I had been learning about on my own. Books have always been a big part of my learning process because I hate waiting for a class or a teacher to teach me information. I found that I learned much better and much faster through my own drive and dedication than in a classroom.
After another two years I had finished high school with two Scholastic Art Awards and five hundred dollars from winning a local business plan competition. I then worked as a photographer for my town’s newspaper before attending Fitchburg State University the following September.
I am excited to begin the remaining half of my time at Fitchburg State studying Photography and Professional Communication for a Bachelor’s Degree. I don’t know exactly where I’m going to be in ten years but I’m doing my best to ensure I can create and sustain an effective lifelong career in photography.” -Alex
